DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival

CCI in BSR Inspiration

Founded in 2001, DocPoint is one of the largest documentary festivals in the Nordic countries. In Finland, it is the only festival solely dedicated to documentary films. Once a year it brings more than a hundred of the best and most talked-about documentary films from all over the world and Finland to the screens of Helsinki.

This year's festival edition will take place online due to the pandemic situation, the programme showcases 71 national and international films from 38 different production countries with a record-breaking 57 % of the films directed by women. In a series of webinars and a seminar, discussants dive into conversations on themes inspired by DocPoint’s film topics. These themes include the Baltic Sea, Africa, and the position of the Sámi peoples, as well as thoughts on the storytelling aspects of documentary films. The entire program can be found here.

DocPoint supports equality and diversity and aims at evolving into an ecologically sustainable film festival. The festival wishes to generate ideas, to bring about discussions, and to create communality. This is why the festival features not only film screenings but also debates, industry events, clubs, and other side events.

The festival is supported by our lead partner Goethe Institut.
