A conference will be held in Tartu from October 30th to November 2nd, 2024, focusing on ecological sustainability through do-it-yourself (DIY) practices and consumer behavior. The conference will examine sustainability in everyday life, particularly emphasizing DIY repair, reuse, and vernacular innovation in domestic and community settings. By bringing together perspectives from ethnology, anthropology, sociology, and craft studies, the conference aims to showcase and discuss contemporary, traditional, and vernacular sustainable practices.
We are calling for proposals for presentations, workshops, and documentaries until the 31st of March that delve into different forms of DIY practices, solutions, innovation, and material culture concerning sustainability in various settings and regions. Along with scholars from academia, experts from memory institutions, and craft scholars, we extend our invitation to activists, craftsmen, and designers to share their knowledge and experiences at this conference.
