Hacking and Pitching for a Better Baltic Sea 2021

CCI Contact Desk News

For the third year in a row, the Danish Cultural Institute, Filmby Aarhus and Lifestyle & Design Cluster are organizing the (HACKING +) PITCHING FOR A BETTER BALTIC SEA event. This year, they will combine cross-border networking, an intensive hackathon, a pitching competition in front of an international jury, a creative intervention and much more.

Entrepreneurs from around the Baltic Sea are invited to join in Copenhagen and Aarhus to present their ideas for how to make the Baltic Sea Region a better, greener place to live. The starting point is the UN’s Sustainability Goals 12 and 13, and how they can contribute to create value, give direction and lead toward the innovation and investments of the future.

The event will take place on 13 and 14 September, it will be possible to join the main activities in Aarhus online, and, for the physical participants, travel and stay will be covered by the project.

On 13 September, the organisers and participants will all gather in Copenhagen for a series of pre-activities which, among other things, will include visits to local green companies and incubators as well as a kick-off event for a future creative industries cooperation for EU National Institutes of Culture and CCI actors in Denmark and Skåne. On 14 September, the main event will take place in Aarhus, where participants will work creatively together with other CCIs to find concrete solutions to the challenge of how technology and creative storytelling can contribute to a sustainable and green transformation of the lifestyle and design sector. They will work on a concrete problem defined by expert mentors who will also guide through the process as well as share their own experiences and knowledge. And, at the end, participants will be able to pitch their innovative idea to an international jury, possibly winning an inspiring prize.

The event is open to everyone who works within the Cultural and Creative industries - with design, fashion, VR, digital storytelling, gaming or something else entirely - and are interested in working across borders and sectors with the sustainability challenges of the future.
