Structured Dialogue Voices Of Culture | Goethe Institut

CCI in BSR Inspiration

Voices Of Culture provides a framework for discussions between cultural stakeholders and the European Commission. It offers a platform for civil society representatives of the cultural sector to give input to the European Commission on a range of topics.

The project published a Brainstorming Report on the topic ‘Culture and the Sustainable Development Goals: Challenges and Opportunities’. The report results from a Brainstorming Meeting organised by Voices of Culture on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2020. 44 diverse European cultural practitioners from a wide variety of institutions came together in online brainstorming sessions to examine the challenges and opportunities for culture in Europe to contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The report focuses on SDG 4  (Ensuring) inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, SDG 8  (Promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all), SDG 11  (Making) cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable) and SDG 13 (Taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts).

The fourth topic of Voices of Culture 2019 – 2021 will ask questions about the challenges and opportunities for the status and working conditions of artists and cultural and creative professionals. Selected participants will be invited to a digital Brainstorming Meeting and to a Dialogue Meeting in Brussels to share their input on several areas of discussion such as Income for artists and cultural and creative professionals, artists’ status or Mobility of artists and other cultural and creative professionals. Voices of Culture participants will write a Brainstorming Report after the Brainstorming Meeting. This report will then be presented by participants to the European Commission at the Dialogue Meeting.

Voices of Culture is implemented by our lead partner Goethe-Institut.
